How to make sure you receive bin collection reminders (Samsung Galaxy)
1. Allow notifications for the app
- Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Notifications
- Make sure Allow notifications is turned on
- Check that Collection Reminders is also enabled in the list below
2. Remove the app from battery optimisation
- Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Battery
- Tap Battery usage and select Unrestricted
- (Do NOT leave it on “Optimised” or “Restricted”)
3. Check the app isn’t sleeping
- Go to Settings → Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits
- Make sure the app is NOT listed under Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps
- If it is, tap it and remove it
4. Disable App Power Monitor for this app (One UI specific)
- Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Battery
- If you see Adaptive battery or App power monitor restricting it, switch to Unrestricted
5. Allow the app to run in the background
- Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Battery
- Make sure Allow background activity is on
6. Check Do Not Disturb isn’t blocking reminders
- Go to Settings → Notifications → Do Not Disturb
- If DND is scheduled to run overnight, tap Exceptions → Apps and add [App Name]
- Alternatively, make sure your reminder time is set to a time outside your DND schedule (e.g. 6pm the evening before collection)
7. Make sure the reminder is set in the app
- Open the app and go to Settings → Reminders
- Confirm a reminder time is set for your location
- If you recently reinstalled or updated the app, you may need to re-enable the reminder
8. Don’t force-stop the app
- If you manually force-stop an app via Settings, Android cancels all its scheduled alarms
- If you did this, simply open the app again to reschedule them
